Víctor Farías

Professor and researcher at UPF

Born in Santiago de Chile, Víctor Farías is a PhD in History by the University Institute of History Jaume Vicens i Vives at Pompeu Fabra University. Lecturer and researcher at UPF and numerous local and international universities and institutions, Farías will delve into the historical roots that link women with evil, and deepen in the consequent evolution of the term “witch hunt”.

Miquel Sureda

Physicist and aerospace engineer

Miquel Sureda is a Physicist, MSc in Science Communication and PhD in Aerospace Engineer. For 12 years, he has been teaching space technology at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and researching on the commercial exploitation of missions of low Earth orbit. Collaborator on radio and scientific journals, Sureda will disseminate the causes of the current stagnation of space exploration and the reasons why this situation could change.

Elena Neira

Professor of Communications at UOC

Elena Neira is a professor, researcher and expert in new models for media distribution. Author of “La otra pantalla” and co-author of “La revolución over the top: del VOD a la televisión por internet”. The impact of disruptive platforms such as Netflix in the entertainment business is one of her main research topics.

Marc Güell

Professor and researcher at PRBB

Tenure-track professor at UPF and leader of the Translational Synthetic Biology Laboratory at PRBB, where he engineer biology to create new therapeutic strategies. His laboratory is currently centered on applied human genome engineering, and skin microbiome engineering. He will be talking about the ethical limits of using CRISPR on humans.

Guille Martínez-Vela

Director of El Jueves

Long time contributor of El Jueves magazine, named director on June 2016. During his leadership, the magazine was awarded with the Premi Internacional d’Humor Gat Perich. On november 2017 he was sued after being accused of insulting the Spanish Police, for which he will be discussing with us the limits of humour.

Sirin Adlbi

Activist and author

PhD in Mediterranean International Studies at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Author of “La cárcel del feminismo. Hacia un pensamiento islámico decolonial” and co-author of “Feminismos Islámicos”. Adlbi has been speaker at numerous unversities and research centres around the world. Named one of the “100 influential people in Ibero-America” by El País in 2011.

Jordi Camí

Director of Pasqual Maragall Foundation

Jordi Camí, has been since 2008 the director of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation. Doctor of Medicine, specialist in Clinical Pharmacology, and professor at the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona, he has focused his scientific activity in the field of neurosciences. He has participated in the management of new centers and has promoted research infrastructures such as the PRBB, which he has been running since 2005.

Isabel Tanco

Isabel Tanco, graduated from Aula Escola Europea is a current Pedagogy student at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Situations such as her cultural and academic background, living in Dallas for a year or acting have made her question herself for years... Actually, she admits doing it still. Bernat Saiz

Bernat Saiz is a 21-year-old Advertising and Public Relations student at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He’s passionate about media, design and new digital formats, which has led him to start some projects related to these fields, one of which, related to journalism and politics.

CEO of an online based sex shop, certified sex coach and YouTuber. She will be talking about one of the greatest taboos in history, sexuality.

Miguel Ángel Ariño

PhD in Mathematical Sciences and researcher of decision making. Publisher of several books. Ariño will be talking about which goals should be pursued by enterprises in order to become successful.

Cèlia Ventura
